How Spaghetti Sauce Saved The World

It is not Bruce Willis, it is not Al Gore. It is neither Gandhi, nor the Dalaï-Lama. Definitely not the Big-Bang, or God.

It is Spaghetti Sauce.

And Malcolm Gladwell tells you in this video, how it saved the world.

Warren Buffett

Warren Buffett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Who is Warren Buffett? Oh, just one of the richest men in the world!

have a good week, james

Warren Buffett (born August 30, 1930) is an American investor, businessman, and philanthropist. He is one of the world's most successful investors and the largest shareholder and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway.[3] He was ranked by Forbes as the richest man in the world during the first half of 2008, with an estimated net worth of $62 billion. As of September 17, 2008 his net worth had dropped to $58 billion.[1] On October 10, 2008 Forbes magazine identified him as the richest man in the U.S., passing Bill Gates by $3.5 billion.[4]

Often called the "Oracle of Omaha",[5] Buffett is noted for his adherence to the value investing philosophy and for his personal frugality despite his immense wealth.[6] His 2006 annual salary was about $100,000, which is small compared to senior executive remuneration in comparable companies.[7] When he spent $9.7 million of Berkshire's funds on a business jet in 1989, he jokingly named it "The Indefensible" because of his past criticisms of such purchases by other CEOs.[8] He lives in the same house in the central Dundee neighborhood of Omaha that he bought in 1958 for $31,500 and today, it is valued at around $700,000.[9]

Buffett also is a notable philanthropist. In 2006, he announced a plan to give away his fortune to charity, with 83% of it going to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.[10] In 2007, he was listed among Time's 100 Most Influential People in The World.[11]

An interesting presentation about North Korea

Here is an interesting and funny presentation about North Korea.

Ken Robinson, TEDTalks

This lecture deals with children, schools and creativity.

Ken Robinson makes the case that today’s schools are educating children out of their creativity at a time when they need it more than ever — and that it is crucial to help them engage their innate talents.

Besides, Sir Ken Robinson has an impressive sense of humour that makes his lecture really fascinating.

PS: here's the transcript of the talk... (word document)

A good start

There are several ways to make a good start.

Here is Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO, actually going crazy at the start of his presentation.

The use of repetition

Should you repeat something during a lecture ?

People are lazy, the brain is lazy. If you want make an real impact, you can repeat, twice, three times or more.

This video is a state-or-art of repetition ! The iphone is a great phone. But when it was launched, many phones already played music and browsed on the web. But with such a repetition, it seems extraordinary.

Another use of repetition, maybe too much this time :D

Greatest lecture of all time :D

Randy Pausch died on July 25th 2008 from liver cancer, a rare form of cancer that is fatal in 95% of the cases.

A few months before he died, he gave a last lecture, a final lecture. He explains how to realize your childhood dreams, and it is definitely in my opinion, one of the greatest lectures of all time. Not only because it is a lecture from a dead man, but because it is funny, effective and fascinating.
